Social media and tech giants have already laid the groundwork for this Orwellian vision, where shadowy government agencies coordinate the takedown of free speech online. The nightmare deepens with the advent of AI and the potential loss of employment for millions, leading to Universal Basic Income (UBI) funds provided by governments.
While the money would be used to control as much as provide sustenance, AI tech tools would tailor its use according to a vision prescribed by the very powerful. Any violation of prevailing policies would be automatically forbidden.
This could be a world without freedom. New behaviorism could be enforced tyrannically under such a system, even if introduced with a gentle touch and gradual implementation.
The disturbing truth is that CBDCs are part of an immediate scheme that could end accountability, dissent, free expression, and independent lives. Polls show that while CBDCs are unpopular with those aware of their potential, most of the public remains blissfully ignorant of the radical change approaching.
