Once more, the society of climate alarmists tells us our time is running out to address ‘global warming.’ Their desperation is palpable, as we approach nine years of a warming pause. What choice do these merchants of madness have but to cling to their fading narrative?
Déjà vu: The New York Times’ Recycled Warning
Last month, the New York Times published an article that seemed all too familiar. The piece warned that Earth is likely to cross a critical threshold for global warming within the next decade.
It cited a “major new report” by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and urged nations to immediately and drastically shift away from fossil fuels.
The report stated that there is still one last chance to change course.
However, this would naturally require industrialized nations to join together and slash greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, ultimately stopping carbon dioxide emissions altogether by the early 2050s.
The Never-Ending Cycle of Doomsday Deadlines
How many times have we heard these predictions before?
So many deadlines and “now or nevers” have come and gone that it’s become a near-impossible task to keep track of them all.
These climate alarmists behave like doomsday cultists who continuously revise their predictions of the apocalypse when their dates inevitably pass without incident.
As international hotheads screech about impending doom, levelheaded observers point to data that reveal a pause in warming.
This pause, which has now reached eight years and nine months, is likely as natural as it is human-caused. Satellite readings from the University of Alabama in Huntsville show no rise in global temperatures between July 2015 and March 2023.
Christopher Monckton, an adviser for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and consultant with the Heartland Institute on climate policy, states that these dates are not cherry-picked.
The dataset for 44 years and four months since December 1978 shows a less-than-alarming long-run warming rate of 1.3 degrees per century.
The Never-Ending Cycle of Fearmongering
Despite the evidence, the warming racket will continue to ignore the pause or attack the messenger.
Fact-checkers will bend the truth whenever possible, and the cycle of fearmongering will roll on.
The benefits that accrue to the political left – an explosion of progressive policies, greater opportunities for graft, a constant upgrade in social status, and more control over the masses – are simply too juicy to give up.
The climate alarmists will continue to cry wolf, pushing their agenda through fear and manipulation.
The data, however, tells a different story – one of a world that may not be as close to the brink as we’ve been led to believe.
As we face the never-ending cycle of doomsday deadlines and climate alarmism, it’s time to question the narrative and examine the facts for ourselves.
